For Smiths City furniture retailers King’s Birthday weekend activity, we wanted to demonstrate Smiths is doing something new and fresh. We wanted our audience to be a bit charmed, left with a warm fuzzy feeling. To bring about a wry smile, like they’ve been let in on the joke. Not being shouted at like most other retailers do.

Here in NZ, we’re a long way from all the pomp of Buckingham Palace. Sure, we’ll toast the King’s birthday, like we did the Queen’s, but our real reason to celebrate is getting Monday off. Sorry King Charles, your Majesty, it’s not that we don’t honour your birthday, we just honour a three day weekend more. Especially when it falls in the middle of the year when there’s hardly any other public holidays. So while Britain says Long Live the King, we’re really thinking Long Live the Long Weekend.
