Luphonium. An Instrument of Light.

The instrument of light serves as a metaphor for creativity - inspiration when worked becomes a rainbow of joyous output. Little characters busy about the instrument playing it, harnessing the light energy and producing all sorts of fun: surfing on the rainbow, candy, superheros, dancers on the hill. A diorama installation made of translucent Acrylic - 4.3 metres in length. The diorama is lit with LED lights controlled with a smart phone application animating the movement of light through the instrument. The Luphonium was awake 24/7 so when no-one was tinkering it had six pre-set modes from a low key distraction-free mode during business hours all the way through to a vibrant, frenetic after hours spectacle to entertain the late night passers by.
